Fruit & Vegetables

Most of us are aware of government advice that we should be eating five portions of fruit and vegetables a day. It could prevent 20 per cent of life threatening illnesses such as heart disease and cancer, but do you really know what a portion is?

A portion is 80 grams, 2.75 ounces, or:

Tip: Go and buy (shelled) walnuts, almonds, unsalted cashew nuts, pumpkin seeds, raisins. Take 2 tablespoons of each, put in a container (small enough to carry with you). When you get the munchies, snack on them - so much better for you than crisps or chocolate!
