Eating Well For Your Health

At one of my regular Saturday night gigs, I noticed a couple I see when they are on holiday. We got chatting and she tells me she's waiting for open heart surgery. She said she gets out of breath very quickly and has to carry a mobile oxygen kit. She was quite concerned about the operation. I tried to re-assure her it was no big deal, this type of operation is done on a regular basis. I said, "Don’t worry about the op, get yourself fit for it." She said "I can't get very far without oxygen". I said, "GET FIT, AS IN BUILDING UP YOUR IMMUNE SYSTEM, LOSING WEIGHT AND GETTING MENTALLY FIT". After we talked she felt a lot more positive and promised to keep in touch with her progress.

Losing Weight

Take losing weight. Immediately stop potatoes (that means jacket potato, mash, roast, chips, etc), corn, white rice, white bread from refined flour, beetroot, carrots and of course refined sugar (as in “I have 2 spoons please”), sugared colas and beer. The trouble with all these, they are the carbohydrate that cause an intense insulin secretion. Some will ask, "how much can I cheat on this?" Very little! Get your sugar (glucose) through normal portions of all the acceptable carbs listed at the end of this article .

If you don’t or can't exercise, exercise what I've just told you. You will lose weight. Before you eat a meal, drink a glass of water. At this point I’d like to say: It's not just the food you eat, but how much at one time. For myself, I eat 5-6 meals a day. "WHAT?" I hear you say. Let me say that a meal for me is 3-4 slices of chicken on a bed of Rocket (Roka, spelt in Cyprus) and young spinach with a sliced tomato. Drizzle of olive oil and black pepper. NO SALT.

HOW ABOUT EXERCISE? Its definitely a plus in overall body fitness and health, especially if done regularly and in moderate amounts. Nevertheless, a moderate amount of exercise will not significantly affect weight loss if you continue to eat food that create a need for high levels of insulin in your blood stream. I definitely believe exercise is good for you in combination with low sugar diet it should help with general improvement in body weight control and health.
